Sal growled and leapt at Glade, shoving him into the nearest wall.

He moved in until they were almost nose to nose. “I don’t like you.”

“I don’t care,” Glade said. He didn’t look the least bit scared that Sal had an arm pressed against his throat. “I’m not here for you to like.”

“Then you’re doing an excellent job.”

“You need to let me go, Sal.”

“And you need to tell me what in the hell is going on with Tibo before I kick your hairy ass off that cliff with Judd.”

“I’m warning you, Sal, you don’t want to go there.”

“The hell I don’t!” Sal snapped. “You know something, and I want to know what it is. I’m tired of chasing my fucking tail. I can’t protect Tibo if I don’t know what sort of danger he is in.”

“You need to decide if you’re in this for the long haul or not before I say anything.” Glade’s lips thinned as he pressed them together for a moment. “Tibo will always be in danger, always need protection. I’ve dedicated my life to keeping him and the others alive.

Can you say the same?”

Sal frowned and slowly leaned away from Glade, letting him go.

“I love Tibo. I’d do anything for him.”

“You love me?” a soft voice whispered from behind him.
